Criminal E-Filing Mandated in Texas
and Supported by eFileTexas
Every branch of Texas government, particularly the judiciary, is committed
applying technology that enables everyone access to our justice system.
– Nathan Hecht, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Texas
In September 2015, the statewide civil e-filing implementation was successfully completed 9 months ahead of schedule. In June 2016, the Court of Criminal Appeals chose to expand the scope of the e-filing initiative by mandating e-filing in criminal matters. All 254 Texas counties will become mandatory on a graduated schedule through January 1, 2020.
